I was contacted by a lovely gentleman who wanted to arrange interior design services to assist his wife in updating their living room. Their living room had remain unchanged for years and had become dated, however the couple did not know what style direction to go in and were a little overwhelmed and also daunted by the prospect of making changes without a clear future vision. It seemed that they had got to a dead end with their living room decoration to the point where the idea was to have all things cream as this seemed like the safe option. After our initial meeting I undertook some style exercises with my client to help me better understand her preferences, in turn this also helped her to understand what she did and didn’t want. Following which we looked at a range of fabric and colour samples together alongside inspirational images to fine-tune the future living room concept.
In terms of scope and constraints, there is a rather large AV set up that could not be moved, in addition the clients did not want to paint the walls a different colour and their minds would not be changed. The outcome for the future vision was a classic light filled living room with longevity and elegance alongside plenty of comfortable seating.
The following are some before photos:
The colour accent chosen was. classic blue tones which was taken on to the beautiful sofas and accent chair by Parker Knoll and on to the floor length curtains and fantastically priced 100% wool rug from Dunelm. The gas fire was replaced with a more contemporary black framed model creating more balance on the chimney breast. New side tables, console tables and coffee table was sourced alongside some beautiful new wall lights and ceiling lights. Styling accents were added to complete the room.
I’m pleased to say my clients are very pleased with the end results.
