A Calming Bedroom Mood Board with a Touch of the Orient

I’ve been in love with the designs of Lucy Tiffney since I stumbled upon her on Instagram. Her handpainted designs usually centre around bold flowers and foliage and create a huge impact when used on the large scale murals she presents. More recently she launched ‘Pink Pavilion’ which to me echoes the ancient Orient and uses greens, golds, taupes and blues in its design (top left of the moodboard below). Pink Pavilion acts as the centre piece from which this calming bedroom scheme evolved.

By carefully balancing Lucy’s bold print with a neutral colour palette of off whites, light blushes and green/greys (Little Greene Paint Company) the print of Lucy Tiffney’s Pink Pavilion Wallpaper is able to sing but not overpower, allowing for calm. Luxury can be felt in the ‘wedgwood’ green silk cushions by Designers Guild and the sumptuous banana silk rug, yet a simple natural calm ensues in the light grey linens of the bedstead and window dressings. This use of differing fabrics creates texture and a tactile experience. Light is particularly important in the bedroom, here a warm hue is created using bedside ceiling pendants (by Warmly) rather than brutal spotlights or an unflattering central fitting, while the sleek brass curves offer a feminine, modern and glamorous touch. Natural materials help to ground the room, with sleek curved wood presented in the lounge chair ( Cane Collection) and echoed on the bedstead, hand thrown ceramics, vintage hardware and delicate glassware (Oliver Bonas).

I hope you like my mood board and please feel free to leave your comments.
